Steamed Garlic Prawns (or Shrimp)

  • 0.5 - 1 pound of medium or jumbo shrimp, peeled

  • Make sure to buy the domestic shrimp or the shrimp from Gulf of Mexico. Do not use the shrimp imported from Asia.

  • 4 cloves of garlic, peeled and chopped into fine pieces

  • 2 tbsp refined olive oil or avocado oil

  • 0.5 - 1 tbsp of organic gluten-free soy sauce (naturally fermented)

  • If you don't want to use soy sauce, use a few pinches of pink salt as alternative.

  • a pinch of black pepper

  • 1 green onion, chopped into short pieces

  • 1 tbsp of cilantro


  1. Lay all the shrimp on a plate beautifully. Pour soy sauce (or pinks salt) onto the shrimp. Add black pepper.

  2. Put some water in the steamer and bring it to boil. Put the plate with the shrimp into the steamer and steam for 2-3 minutes until the color of the shrimp turns pink. Take the plate out of the steamer right away. It is important not to overcook the shrimp.

  3. Spread the minced garlic, green onion, and cilantro on top of the steamed shrimp.

  4. Heat the oil on medium heat for about 30 seconds. Pour oil into the shrimp. Enjoy!
